I'm so stoked about this... Burton's films seem to be cycling around again, echoing his past work. After having to do time with some big budget Hollywood-type films to reestablish his credibility (Planet of the Apes, compared to Batman), he did a quirky little thing (Big Fish, compared to Pee Wee's Big Adventure... Yes I know that Pee Wee was before Batman... I didn't say this was a perfect theory) and is now allowed to go back and do these totally offbeat films with a childlike Gothic sensibility (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, compared to Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride compared to Nightmare Before Christmas). I have high hopes for both upcoming Burton films. Of course, we'll then swing around to Ed Wood and Mars Attacks again, but at least we'll have a few more really strongly "Burtonesque" films to salivate over.
