80s night in Atlanta
i stopped going to 80s night at the masqerade (and other atlanta clubs) years ago because i couldn't bear to hear We Got the Beat, Come On Eillen and/or Blue Monday ever again (well those and a long list of other overplayed songs). but I love eighties music!
ya know, bands like Tones on Tail, The Jesus & Mary Chain, early XTC, Ultravox, Echo and the Bunnymen (except Lips like Sugar which will cause my head to explode if I ever hear at 80s night again), Wire, Gary Numan and Pylon all of them recorded lots of really good dance songs. Men Without Hats first record & 12 inches have many good dance songs, but all I ever heard was safety dance & pop goes the world (zzzz). Fetchin Bones were a great dance band too.
so do the djs @ the masq 80's night still have to play compilation tracks or are they spinning the less-known/album tracks to keep us old-timers interested?
One of my new years resolutions will be to lose 20 pounds so I must find a decent club where I can dance to music that won't annoy me.
