Tom'S Hardware CPU charts put the 4800+ about 4% faster than the 2.66 GHz "Smithfield" generation Pentium D for the Windows Experience Index benchmark for Vista, 10% faster for PCMark 2005 office applications benchmark, and 31% faster for the LAME MP3 encoder. I don't think the average end user will perceive a difference.

I would recommend looking instead at a 4GB solid state disk drive to put the Windows pagefile on instead.
