Easy-bake capitalism

  1. Ring up your favorite lobbying firm and kindly give them a ride to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave (Repeat after 08 Elections)
  2. Wine & dine select legislative VIPs (Repeat after 08 Elections)
  3. Stir in billions of dollars of gubment handouts.

Voila! Instant debt elimination & a fresh clean start for another global corporation!

GM's path to leave Chapter 11 apparently cleared, despite a last-minute appeal from plaintiffs in an Arizona product liability case against GM involving a Chevrolet Malibu. ...Once the world's largest and most powerful automaker, GM will become a leaner and greener company, cleansed of debts and burdensome contracts that nearly dragged it into liquidation.

Free market capitalism is a lie.

I suppose the biggest thing in working for and around the government, I've realized that it is all sort of.. ritualistic.. almost like a stage play, if you well. Everyone shows up, says their lines and goes home, and no one has any real incentive to change those rituals because from the lowest levels to the highest levels, there's nothing built in to the system reward excellence, to reward doing your job well. Rather, the main incentive is to preserve your place in the whole machine and take advantage of it, to the extent you can, while you can. I suppose I knew that was true on some level.. but somehow being knee-deep in it really drove the point home in a more visceral way.
