wasn't written by Sugar Hill Gang or Fab Five Freddy.. it was Plastic Fantastic Lover by Jefferson Airplane.

Actually, rap goes back to Jamaican first-wave ska; look up "toasting" and "ska" as a Google search, and you can read up on that history. :)

I always thought it was "Dang Me" by Roger Miller in 1964.
