(no subject)
Oct. 2nd, 2002 09:06 pmIt's official. I go under the knife Monday, October 21.
The doc says the procedure will only take an hour or so, though I'll be out for around 3 or so hours. They'll make a 2-inch incision in my lower back, cut away a little of the vertebrae, remove the two herniations that are pressed up against the sciatic nerve(s), and stitch & glue me back together. I'll stay in the hospital overnight and providing all is well will probably go home the following day.
Yes, I am a little scared.
They made a point of telling me there is a slight risk of death from anesthesia complications. Less serious possible complications include residual pain in my low back and/or infection. Probably complications: nausea from the anesthetics. For beleivers in a higher power, prayer is appreciated...
