quest for dark orchestra
Oct. 23rd, 2009 12:21 pmFound a lot of great pieces over the past couple days. Having to weed through a bunch of metal & neo-folk.
Just today I was listening to Doomed on SomaFM and heard a song by Bohern & Der Club of Gore which was just amazing. I thought I was on a chamber music station at first.. the piece was slow, sombre and had light saxophone blended in the background. Haunting, beautiful..
Once I have a list put together I'll post somewhere for others to use. :)

Dark classical & opera
Oct. 20th, 2009 05:43 pmOk -- gothic inspired classical or opera music...
Are there any streaming stations, cd compilations, or releases by individual composers (other than Brendan Perry & Lisa Gerrard) with dark musical themes? Piano pieces are fine, concertos OK.. I'm not so interested in world or folk music here.. just traditional orchestra music.
I'm all ears. :)

wow.. found this on youtube
Sep. 4th, 2009 12:49 amand it brought back memories..
i shot this video (below) at the rotunda in 2003... also filmed the entire Antiworld set from the same night. I didn't get any of the Brides who also played. Lucas stood on the balcony opposite from where I was for the entire CS set. Halfway in between they stopped and changed costumes.. Lucas and Daniel swapped between boy and girl in the second half.
I've only seen a few songs from both sets on the net since sharing them via SoulSeek years ago. May still have the originals in my basement... somewhere!
anyway -- this was an amazing night.. lots of fun and well worth the 16 hour drive.
I'm happy to see some of this old footage has survived on youtube. :)

Hey John, this is the machine i mentioned earlier. it's so horrible sounding.... kraftwerk used this way back when, too.
I found an snippet of me goofing around with this machine (recorded in 1993!)
(skip over the first 15-20 seconds to hear the Synsonics... the first few seconds is from a casio keyboard drum kit)
and something else i found on youtube..

I need two things - an amp to play drum beats, and an amp to play bass. My studio is tiny, so I don't need more than 100 watts on the PA, and I liked the Fender 60 watt bass combo I listened to earlier tonight.
But should I forego the bass combo and get a nicer PA which could then be used to play both bass & drumbox?

My ears are ringing
Feb. 9th, 2008 01:47 amEntertainment were fucking LOUD tonight. They sounded great, so did Bell Hollow (who weren't quite as loud). It was nice meeting
greengerg in person after chatting here on LJ over the last few years.
But the best part of the night was seeing
12xu & (alan, sorry I don't know your lj nick!) again, and meeting
bubblebop_rot for the first time. Can't wait to do this again! Now can someone please talk Mike Hideous into coming south again?
