Someone from the Athens music scene wrote me via myspace earlier today.  I never became acquainted with Jerry Sumrell, though Vomit Thrower had every reason not to like him back in the early nineties.  He was the music critic for Flagpole, and played in a band called Catbutt, Jr.  He never had anything nice to say about us in the magazine but that's water under the bridge.  It's nice to hear from someone who was around back then.

Four Black Hawk helicopters landed in a wheat field and dropped off a television crew, three photographers, three print reporters and three Iraqi government officials right into the middle of Operation Swarmer. Iraqi soldiers in newly painted humvees, green and red Iraqi flags stenciled on the tailgates, had just finished searching the farm populated by a half-dozen skinny cows and a woman kneading freshly risen dough and slapping it to the walls of a mud oven. I had a surreal experience at an "animal farm" in Lawrenceville this morning.  I'll write a little more about that later.

For now I need to run to the atm for rent, then off to band practice.

After rehearsal I plan on seeing V for Vendetta, which I've looked forward to seeing since last year.
