I was copying files from my camera to my laptop (Vista) earlier today. After 20 minutes of solid hdd light activity I tried to bring up task manager. Couldn't -- the task bar was hourglassed. Tried C-A-D. Nothing - just solid hdd light.

I inserted the windows disk, tried repair -- nothing was found, except windows showed a message saying I may want to contact the USB device driver vender for support. Nice.

Tried safe mode a few different ways - nothing there, except a solid hdd light after logging in (which takes forever).

Now all I want are the half dozen docs of notes I'd taken in my biology class.

I can't believe vista is still being shipped. It is AWFUL. Yet to have any OS (or driver) failures with Linux.

so i go back to the windows install disk, hoping I could just reinstall the OS on top of what's there (so as not to lose my files & apps). Ha. the 'reinstall' option is grayed out with a note saying "This option has been disabled". Great! Thanks Dell!

i'm tired and need to go to bed.. i won't have time to do this tomorrow tho. and i must have those files!

Towards the end of this video he jumps a huge tabletop and lands perfectly. I wouldn't try that jump with two arms!
