I agree with the first bit, but I fail to see what kind of an impact graffiti really has on anything.
The mainstream media (it's what.. 4 or 5 companies now owning everything?) knows all the advertising tricks, all the gimmicks for implanting memes into peoples' brains. I never knew how polluted my mental space was until I gave up television 4 years ago. Now, ads of any kind irritate me and raise my defenses.
I think people need to give up the drug (television & mainstream radio) and see for themselves how the world could be, but too many people are all too happy to have their little opium.
A little over two years ago, I went out at 3 am to watch what was termed one of the most brilliant meteor showers seen in our lifetime (The Leonids, in November 2001). It was quite a spectacular show, but I could not help but wonder what the people inside were thinking.. I could see the blue glows of their television sets. :-(
