Well, after a nice week of rain softened up the dirt we decided to goahead and plow everything under except for the okra and eggplant.

Afterwords, we cut open one of the watermelons and ate most of it in the shade.  I was amazed over how sweet and yummy it was!

Betsy:

I've decided that I'd like to sell both of my little tractors and find a CUT later this year or early next.  A friend is working her way into the homebuilding industry as an out LGBT owned painting company.  She's encouraged me to think about doing work on the side, since there aren't many queer landscape people around.  Now, I have no plans on quitting my day job (unlike my friend) so I couldn't become too wrapped up in it all - but the idea of making extra monies on the weekends doing something I enjoy doing interests me.

The red okra is absolutely stunning with deep greens, reds and pale yellow flowers with deep red accents. It's fruit turns green when cooked.
