What would have made it interesting would be if this version had been set in it's original time period - Victorian England
war of the worlds was one of the first non-kiddie books I read but that was a very long time ago.. hehe. i'd forgotten where HG Wells set his story... so yes, too bad the remake didn't follow in those footsteps because well aliens in victorian times simply hasn't been done in a major production that i know of..
i'm not so excited about Charlie as i probably should be..the trailer wasn't that good. tim burton just doesn't compare to Gene Wilder.. although, I remember reading somewhere that Robert Dahl wasn't entirely pleased with the first movie's portrayal of Willy Wonka, that mr wonka should have been a darker less accessible character.. so maybe Burton's version will be closer to Dahl's vision?
