oh, I was offered the job.

Plusses:  work as me, begin RLE, large stable company
Minuses: 40 mile drive from home to office, up 400, in traffic would require that I left an hour or more early for work.  15%  Pay Cut.

I have over the weekend to make a decision.

What think ya?

Can you afford the 15% paycut? I'd say go for it (so long as it isn't Scientific Games Int'l)

That's a toughie; I recently changed jobs, taking a 30% pay cut, so I would no longer have to drive 40 miles up 400; it had become that important to me to stop making that awful commute.

But if it means you can begin your RLE...that's huge.

I'd say, come out at your current work. If they're okay with you working as you, stay. If they say you may not do that, accept the other job and quit.

The stable part is good in comparison to the little bit of hell you've had to deal with, being able to work as you is awesome but the paycut and the extended drive may be rough. Congrats on the offer, very glad that you have found an alternative to what you have been dealing with at the work space.

Go for it

Do it! Be you! Commuting in reverse (out then in) is nowhere as bad as normal commuting (in then out.) I commute in reverse.

Time to move up 85/400??

Can you move any closer? I think the first job may be the hardest, so if you think you can swing it, I think you should do it, and if you don't like it, poke around some more in a year. It will be easier then.

Can you really take a 15% cut in pay like that? Plus then you'd have the added money spent on gas because of the distance.

Best of luck to you on either way you go. I’m having some similar issues myself with looking for a new place to give me money.
