IRS - textbook deduction?

Can I deduct the cost of college textbooks and other school supplies?  If so, where do I do this?

Also, what about books bought to learn things for work?

I think you can deduct both/all of those, but I couldn't tell you a good place to find details. The IRS's site is not very user-friendly. Most questions you ask there are answered with a link to a .pdf file, which I don't consider very helpful.
