Is it too late to plant vegetables for a summer garden?

From seeds, probably. From plants, I think you'd get some sort of veg from them.

it kind of depends on what you want to grow. what were you thinking of planting?

hrm... i'd check a gardening book. stuff like radishes and what not can be planted throughout the summer. we just planted some squash we'd been letting sprout inside - now that it's outside i think it may grow faster. the black eye pea plats we're growing seem to be growing quickly. i think it really depends on the days it takes to mature (it should have that info on seed packets or that little plastic thingie they put inside the soil of the baby plant to tell you what sun requirements and such that it needs). you probably just need to swing by a gardening store and check with someone working in that area. they could tell you what you can still get away with planting. you'll likely want to go with something that's already sprouted instead of seeds.
