So, I put an ad out looking for musicians today. If I have any replies and they happen to like tftd stuff I'd consider picking that up again. I'd also enjoy putting something new together - new songs, maybe focus on just guitar instead of everything.

Years before the performance below, Seeger was brought before the Un-American Activities Committee in Congress to testify about possibly playing for communists. I've added a transcript below the video.. best part of the video is about halfway in when he switches from banjo to guitar.. the song, lyrics and delivery is amazing.

from 1968

from 1955

Well this isn't exactly new but I found this while doing backups.. it's a instrumental Max(guitar), myself(bass) and a drummer named Josh put together in 2005...

Tears for the Dying - 2005 Demo - Instrumental.mp3

I miss working with Max.. he was an awesome guitarist.

Oh, I also found this one. It's another instrumental.. just me and my drum machine here. Tears for the Dying - 2006-01-19 Demo - Instrumental.mp3

Virtually all of the top-40ish bands/artists in any genre (even so-called alternative) are vapid at best. Once in a while something interesting happens like with Dixie Chix. But most modern music is vile, putrid, and without meaning. Even local bands get into the act.. they want to be signed. They write empty, heartless, "cool" music that rarely rocks the boat. Always fashion, always scene. No substance. My record is stained too.

Americans seem placated with sugar syrupy swill.

Is something wrong with my copy of Yet Another Movie?   Around 4:05 the song switches to grindcore for a few moments.. I figure something is goofy with this mp3, but then Pink Floyd aren't the most conventional band either..

Yes yes I know I could hop on down to Music World and use American Express to buy the latest $10,000 technology, but let's pretend I don't have an amex or that much money to spend.

So.. Anyone have suggestions on an affordable USB input device which will alllow mulitiple track recording? I need more than 4 ins (2 pairs) -- I'm thinking at least 8 1/4" ins with an xlr or two.

Vomit Thrower's music page on that site has been updated.  Included are several new (old) photos and a new (old) song, Fuck Peace.

...Yes I've been reveling in nostalgia of late..  I do intend to pull out of this eventually..

This was taken at a Drop Dead pre-party held at the Rotunda in Philadelphia, in September 2004.  It was sooo hot that day.. Frank and I were tired and emotionally drained from having driven all day long but the few people who showed up early to see us were enthusiastic about our set.  Since there were only two of us around we recorded the bass seperately, so it played along in the background with the drums.  Weird, but it worked out ok.

This is is Pray again.

If you don't mind I'd like to post one or two more from The Last Great Watering Hole then I'll lay off the band videos for a while. :o)

More nostalgia...

I'm on the right playing electric guitar. It was so dark on stage, I remember flubbing at least once in every song from losing track of the frets. There weren't many people at this show, which I think was our first public performance. Our second gig at the watt drew over 100 people which made us happy. This song is Pray and was one of my favorites:

Where we rehearsed...

From November 18, 1996 at the 40 Watt Club:

I'm playing bass, Steve Tucker is on keyboard and Xian sings.  The Girl Pool started life as a low-fi pop/experimental project before venturing further into goth/electronica.  I arranged and wrote the music of Veil after a miserable breakup with a girl I'd dated off and on for a couple years.  Xian wrote lyrics which fit the mood of the piece perfectly.

I have a few other clips from this show if anyone is interested.

I've spent tonight burning a few old concerts to DVD & ripped several tracks from last year's Lenny's show to upload to YouTube.  Hope you enjoy.. I'll have a few more of these soon, including one or two from a LONG time ago.
